Description

I would like to thank :iconzieniu: for allowing me to use his beautiful photo as reference.

I really enjoyed the process of this drawing, despite a few major setbacks. The details on the lingerie was very fun to do. Seeing it go from a blank area to something textured with depth really brings life to the drawing. The silk background is another fun object to draw, though "fun" is used very loosely here. There was just so much detail that I had to simplify some areas a bit, out of sheer laziness :ashamed: The hardest part was perhaps the tummy. I could belly barely stomach the gut wrenching repetition of shading and erasing :D Puns aside, it was a really difficult portion because I shaded and erased over and over again to get the perfect contour of the stomach, but in so doing, really screw up the texture of the paper, making is very rough. This in turn gives the area a texture that is inconsistent with the rest of the drawing. I tried my best to fix that but it's definitely not as good as it could have been.

The reference is really great but the transition to black and white was not very smooth. The problem is that there is a lot going on in the photo. In the colored version, there are colors to differentiate everything but when drawing, the messy background really draw the attention away from the main subject, which, if you have not noticed, is the very attractive lady lying there in lingerie. I tried my best to differentiate the subjects by altering the darkness of certain areas while giving extra highlight to others.

This is my first time drawing on bristol board in a really really long time. Took me a while to ease into the new texture of the paper, and when I did, I found it to be a lot more fun than my usual drawing block. Too bad Singapore doesn't sell bristol board in a pack. I have to buy a giant piece and then cut out the desired dimension myself. But worse is the fact that the giant piece is very prone to creasing while being handled. A short trip from the shop back home is enough to turn it to toilet paper.

I hope you guys like the drawing and thanks in advance for any fav. I may receive :)

Stats:
30x24cm Bristol board
2B, 4B, 6B and 8B
I can't remember how long I took to do this since it was done over the period of almost 2 months
